Returning member frequently asked questions

What if my club is not active for this year?

Good question. We have an Independent Member Club to offer all youth who do not have a club to participate in this year.

What is an Independent Club?

An Independent club member will participate in a remote 4-H meeting with a Plymouth County 4-H staff member at least once a month. Once enrollment is complete Molly and Val will split up the Independent members based on interests and age into two or three groups for remote meetings.

Independent members will be responsible to attend meetings and do their independent 4-H learning.

My club is not on the dropdown list when I try to re-enroll. What do I do?

If you club is not on the list in 4honline choose Independent Member Club.

Your club not being on the list does not necessarily mean that they are not holding remote meetings.  It may just mean that they have not returned the required paperwork yet to enroll for 2020-2021.

NOTE:

•  The deadline for re-enrollment for the $40 participation fee is December 31. After that date,

the enrollment fee doubles to $80.per member.

•  Youth are not allowed  to participate in 4-H contests, events, or apply for awards if they are not fully enrolled for the 2020-2021 year. Fully enrolled means submitting payment and re-enrolling in 4-H Online.

PARTICIPATION FEE:

FOR THIS YEAR ONLY, the fee to enroll is $40. We are very aware that families may have financial strains due to circumstances caused by the Corona virus. Fees are lowered per person and families may still apply for fee waivers.

What is the 4-H Participation Fee used for? During COVID-19 many activities and programs are held online. There are costs to programming even when it is not held in person. Portions of the fee are used for a variety of items including:

  • · Enrolling all members, club leaders, Advisory, Fair, and Program Council members in the American Income Life 4-H Club Members Accident Insurance. This will cover enrolled members, leaders and council members at all 4-H events and activities for the 2020-2021 year. Should you ever need one, claim forms are available by contacting your local 4-H office.
  • · For youth recognition items such as medals, certificates and ribbons.
  • · Materials used to create online programs and/or videos.
  • · Materials youth need to participate in an online program
  • · Mailing grab n' go kits and materials to youth

WAIVERS

All requests for waivers require that a written explanation and/or documentation be sent to Molly at mvollmer@umext.umass.edu.  Plymouth County 4-H grants full waivers on a needs basis through funds provided by the Plymouth County 4-H Advisory Council.

The 4-H Educator will send confirmation about the acceptance or denial of the Waiver request. If

someone does not meet the criteria, the request will not be accepted.
